    Producer / Songwriter / Remixer

    Biography

Jake Gosling is a Music Producer/Songwriter/Remixer/Manager best known for his work with artists such as Wiley and Ed Sheeran. Jake runs his own studio, Sticky Studios, in Surrey. He is signed to BDi Music alongside his co-venture publishing company, The Movement, which was established in 2009 with co-founder, Sarah Liversedge [Managing Director and owner of BDi Music]. The Movement nurtures and develops breaking urban producers and writers within the music industry.

Jake started playing in bands at college and usually ended up producing the bands he was in so it made complete sense to make it his full-time profession. Jake is multi talented - he has been lead singer in many bands and also plays keys, drums, accordion, melodian and percussion but, making ‘beats’ and playing with samples is what he does best. Jake likes to use a mix of analogue with digital, mixing old sounds with new technologies, by ripping up vinyl, sampling and creating his own unique sound. It is important to him that the 'vibe' is strong and he has a great understanding of how to work with up-and-coming artists and established professionals.

Jake has an extensive back-catalogue of hit songs ranging from Pop and Singer-Songwriter ballads through to Grime and R&B/Urban tracks. Since 2009, he has immersed himself in the urban scene and has become a pivotal producer and songwriter in this genre. He has co-written and produced with the God of Grime, Wiley and he has played an integral role in developing new artists such as Scorcher, Mikall Pane, Jelluzz and Fugative. Jake has also produced official remixes for Lady Gaga, Timbaland, Keri Hilson and Nelly Furtado under his remixer pseudonym, Sketch Iz Dead. But, most recently his attention has been focussed on the truly brilliant, Ed Sheeran. Jake is now well known for being Ed Sheeran's right hand man, record producer. They were introduced to each other 4 years ago by Jake's music publisher, BDi Music, and from that point onwards they were a match made in heaven. Their first independent success arrived in early 2011 with 'The No 5 Collaborations Project' which featured urban artists: Wiley, Wretch 32, P Money, JME, Dot Rotten and Devlin. This ground breaking EP/Album reached number 2 on the iTunes album chart within its first day of release challenging no other than Rihanna for top spot! Jake was producer and co-writer on this project. Following the success of “The No 5 Collaborations project”, Jake was snapped up by Asylum Records, a subsidary of Atlantic Records, to produce and co-write on Ed's debut album "+". It charted at No.1 in the Official UK Album Chart in September 2011, going gold in October 2011 and the first single from the album, "The A Team", went straight in at No.3 in the UK singles chart - 'The A Team' which is now platinum status and continues to flutter around the top ten.

Jake has attended many songwriter camps around the world in conjunction with his publishers, BDi Music, Bucks Music Group and the major record labels. The next camp is scheduled for December at Trevor Horn's studio, Sarm Studios, in conjunction with BDi/Bucks/Global and EMI. Currently, Jake is working on the soundrack to a new British feature film "Twenty8K" in collaboration with British film composer, Ruth Barrett, also published by BDi Music. The film is produced by Formosa Films in association with legendary screen writer, Paul Abbott and is set for global release in 2012. Jake has drawn from his strong contacts within the UK urban music scene, to bring artists such as Ghettz, Roxxxan, Smiler, Random Impulse and Mikill Pane into the film. Jake just finished producing the single b side and album track for One Direction. His recent writing collaborations include Lucie Silvas, Maiday and Newton Faulkner. Jake has just returned from a week in LA writing with Ed Sheeran and US rap artist, Yelawolf [signed to Eminem’s Shady Records] to prepare for the US launch of Ed’s music. Ed is about to tour the USA supporting Snow Patrol. 2012 kicks off with Jake co-producing Paoloma Faith’s new album.
